for Portland folks I always recommend the Rarebird meetups.. these actually have great content and guest speakers . the casual meetups around town to me personally are not worth fighting through the traffic.. its more social time.so if want want to go a meeting that has some real content and run by a couple of sharp investors this is the one to go to in my mind.

You must abide by Fair Housing laws, so I would recommend obtaining a letter from a licensed professional (i.e. social worker, psychiatrist, psychologist) and setting some ground rules as Nathan said.

Get business credit cards, DO NOT get personal credit cards (Capital One DOESN'T have ANY Business Cards (even though they claim they are) they all report under your social and towards credit balances on personal name).
