The problem with roommate situations is that no one person will have more rights, regardless if their names are on the lease/rental agreement once residency is established, and regardless of how long one roommate has been there compared to another.When we have encountered an incompatible roommate situation, we have made it clear that they will need to work it out amongst themselves.

Hi Jason and welcome to the community,In working on construction projects outside of my state (I'm a licensed residential contractor and SF rental owner) I have encountered that the local building codes might be amended to add any local requirements in addition to the national codes, so you want to work with a local contractor to at least give you a run down of the process and help you pull permits for any items requiring a licensed electrician, plumbing or structural work.Good luck in KS.MRod
