If you own a property for 27.5 years, chances are you'll have replaced the roof, heating system, appliances, remodeled, etc. all of which you'll depreciate.But you are right that chances are by the time the original building deprecation is done at 27.5 years of owning the property that you'll most likely show higher taxable income.

I had similar experience, bad storm high winds and snow and ice on the lines took down the mast.Power from line to house was disconnected by power company, lines were down and over a car...Power out to both sides of my bungalow and with no power, no heat. and it was well below freezing.I took video at 9pm sent to my electrician and he was out at 6am after power co had shut off the lines, they had many emergencies and I was LOW priority,, he had all the parts to start and finish the job, because of the video, it took better part of the day. and I paid like 2500.00 he had to reconnect to power box and new mast and wait for power company to come and restring from pole to mast.
