It's actually a very common lie used by many agents to negotiate a higher price; in fact, with REO offers, you'll often get asked for your "highest and best" offer, and will be told that you're competing against other buyers, when in actuality they just want you to submit a higher offer and there are actually no other bidders.While it's a lie, it's also a negotiating tactic, and part of the game some agents will play...don't let it bother you...
