It's their very job to enforce contracts.The reason our civilization puts things in writing is so that the rules cannot be changed in the middle of the game ...why is this important principle we all rely on (EVERYONE, not just landlords) suddenly OK to ignore?

I would classify the neighborhood as upper-middle class, and it doesn't appear like there are a lot of renters in the immediate area, so I am unsure if there really is a market for it (although, again, it's a very desirable location).

I guess there weren't any operable smoke alarms, either, since she said the fire was pretty much out of control by the time she realized anything was wrong.The landlord's son is now trying to help his mom get back on her feet, while my friend is trying to get help from a housing aid organization (not easy in the middle of this quarantine situation!).
