You will not be able to rollover those funds in any other retirement account.When you become eligible for a rollover, you can open self-directed IRA or Solo 401k.

If your IRA already purchased this house (subject to or not) the transaction will be pretty typical and any closing company will be able to do it.

@Aaron Ingram, my advice as prior military, a real estate investor, landlord and Florida Mortgage Broker is to forget about what you are asking about for now.Instead, over the time you're in Japan, ESPECIALLY with two new babies, focus on investing in retirement saving  in mutual funds, IRAs, annuities and college savings plans.  

You can also invest with a self directed IRA.
