If you're looking to manage your own homes and perhaps start a property management company, it's a great idea to get a job at one in your area, as you'll gain a lot of useful knowledge and can ensure that you handle future situations legally, correctly, and efficiently.

@Eric Lewis I don't have any experience or knowledge of CLD, but a word of advice is that though the interest rate may be lower, I can guarantee they are making their money back somewhere else. 

I have baseline financial knowledge (taking Real Estate Investments during the Fall semester), I have the passion and drive to learn the business.

But I plan to use it more as a tool to expand my knowledge of this business and look forward to meeting new people. 

There is such an amazing wealth of information here that I just feel overwhelmed into how to go from no knowledge to first purchase.Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Basically, knowledgeable brokers call us, not consumers, as it's not something advertised in the yellow pages.

What I'm looking for essentially are people with knowledge and can get me on email lists that provide properties for sale.If anyone has suggestions and advice for the newbie please feel free to enlighten me.  

Definitely wait to hear from others, but wanted to chime in that we did it without a lot of knowledge and now we're super excited to learn about real estate investing and make this a solid way to earn income!
