I'm moving to Washington D.C. and I would like to invest in a growing, affordable, and revitalizing area in Maryland or Virginia (or other areas within 2 hr drive fr DC; max) with a potential growth in the future.

Remember that you need to put in more then you take out, fill up your partner's love tank and I hope that you leave Detroit many years from now as a guy that made a fortune at a time that others merely blushed and dated a better looking suburb.  

My wife and I are really excited to start growing our portfolio but we quite nervous where to invest.

It's one of the fastest growing areas in Houston but still has a small town feel, for now.The conventional wisdom is that Harvey will create a spike in prices.

My hope for you was that as rents increased, your return could grow into something worthwhile.

Auction.con says they must have 100% of the funding available at time of purchase (if I remember right) how do I know what the exact amount if I am bidding against other people or is there a window after the auction ends?

The reason/logic I honestly can't remember or speak to it.
