I recently inherited two pieces of land from my parents with no actual house on it.

With all that said, I suggest you think about what you think you like doing in Real Estate and then learn that piece and find a way to learn that strategy in the structured format you prefer. 

Your estate and his estate are trying to pick up the pieces.

We have a piece of commercial property that we are in the process of remodeling and we will be leasing it out once we’re done with the remodel.

I don't want to pay for a new unit when its nothing but capacitor or a thermostat, or have a short service life capacitor installed so the Tech can get a quick callback for extra work (not all Techs are top notch in diagnosis).If you intend to learn to service your own A/C units on the fly as they go down, I'd say that's probably a rather big learning curve, and will require some specialized equipment and training on how to safely do it.The rent or buy decision aside, it's best to have a couple of experienced reliable A/C techs at your disposal. 

My biggest piece of advice is to plan for the next move.

However I would say Stone Mountain has been good to me, although the schools nearby aren't top notch it seems like a nice enough neighborhood and I've had good tenants since I've purchased 1.5 years ago after going through some initial turnover.

I own a piece of Land in Lehighton PA, 1/4 mile from PA Turnpike and 500 feet from the entry to Beltzville Lake, 1000 feet from State Route 209.  30 years back this land had plans to build a 90,000 SQ ft of Strip Mall but personal life took a huge detour and the project was canned.
