With the caveat that a group like BlackRock or Lone Star Funds, and many others, have a scale to create specialists under a generalized umbrella, but even groups like P&G and GE, or Amazon and Apple, are basically specialists for a long time before branching out, when they have the ability to branch out at scale (i.e. buying brands or launching product lines with multimillion dollar budgets from day 1 and specialized teams for those brands/product lines)
