Are you concerned that OKC job market seems heavily relying on oil industry? 

I realize construction workers are tough on housing, however isn't the goal to lease directly to an oil company and make them wholly responsible for the rent and damage?

Yes there is a demand for short term rentals, and Airbnb type property especially with oil coming back some.

I currently live in a tiny town Grande Cache, Alberta where I manage an Environmental Contracting company working with First Nations, Oil, Gas, Forestry, Government and all the rest.My real estate experience is fresh at best but I am in a fantastic position to start with a nice piggy bank of life savings in the 10's of thousands, no debt, dual income with my partner and a fairly cheap rental situation at the moment.We have a wonderful opportunity with some land my partner was given on the Ontario, Quebec border aswell as some fantastic waterfront lots we have been looking to buy on West Coast Vancouver Island.

I might hold it a little longer to get some more equity, oil and gas are booming down there, so the values might rise some more.

I don't change my own oil, hem my own clothes, or make very good phad thai:) I pay people to do these things.

One of those freind's haS his own business but, unfortunately, he is in an oil-related business and has been effected with that problem in the oil business.  

For Galveston county I would say a lot depends on what the oil and gas do next year.
