Keep in mind - operating the STR to it's peak performance will require diligent thought and effort to best generate reviews, drive up the nightly rate and occupancy, and maintain an edge over your competition! 

Put in the effort, build relationships, prove your value, and improve your odds of finding someone to help launch you on your path. 

it's just easier than the more advanced strategies...House hacking still takes significant due diligence, skill in analyzing the market and the property, time and effort to learn about tenant screening and property management, the ability to anticipate appreciation/depreciation trends, etc., etc., etc....and even with lots of skill and preparation, things will still go wrong (vacancy, plumbing leaks, bad tenants, etc.)

The cost difference far outweighs the time and effort portions of the full doc loans.Good luck.

In efforts to avoid building 4 story buildings in this neighborhood How would I even begin qualification for financing of this caliber.

They do not understand how much effort goes into being a LL. 

@Naji Ray - Getting payment out of tenants who were evicted is a time consuming and often fruitless effort.
