So let me speed up to around January.

People who do programming/design/etc that can be done anywhere, well if you live in an area where those jobs pay 1/2 of what they do on the coasts, well your salaries might be going up as all of sudden as companies become more used to remote workers.It's going to speed up the delivery trend that was already happening. 

As you know with contractors there is always a balance of cost, quality & speed.

If I were you I'd put the eviction attorney on speed dial, get copies of the leases and your deed together (the attorney will want those), and see how the next 2 weeks go with these people.
