The city offers a strong rental market and with affordability as well as a median home price below the national average, the city stands out as an attractive option.

As an overseas investor, I've been carefully evaluating different options and have narrowed down to a particular buy box that I'd like to share with you all for your insights and opinions.

The issue here is that with investment rates as they are, I'd have to put more down (25% vs 20%) and then I'd be left with a long road to rebuild or repay that downpayment before I could repeat.

In todays world there are much better options for the application process but there are LOTS of background/credit check companies on the internet that provide different services and have different pricing. 

If you can house hack and there are available two-families in your area, this is a great option to start.

ROC USA is your option but that is a big number and you may be running out of time at this point. 

I’ve seen properties advertised that the tenant is responsible for the HOA and it just screams cheap owner don’t rent hereLawncare - optional.

So on the surface, this sounds like a solid deal, compare it to any other available options and if it makes the most sense, pull the trigger, kick it out and then keep growing into the next one.
