@Rick BassettSounds like you need to see the voucher itself - It will tell you the voucher size, case worker, the maximum rent allowance, utility allowance, tenant portion and S8 portion of the rent.

I am very interested to hear some opinions of those who do and do not prefer to participate in housing voucher programs and why they have made that decision.

If they misbehave or leave you owing money, they lose their sec 8 voucher.

I don't have to worry about collecting rent on time and feel like she is less likely to trash the place as she stands to potentially lose her sec 8 voucher for this.

I'd think, if anything, that's the sort of thing that would get her voucher revoked.

They would lose their voucher!

And, so on.And Section 8 vouchers!

Hi Meg,  Two suggestions -- don't give up on voucher tenants as each inspector is different and if you get someone who says paint the attic -- call the inspection department and ask what's going on. 

I buy in the nicer parts of C neighborhoods for 20K-30K, put 20K-30K in renovations, and rent to a solid voucher holder.  

They don't have to pay for it, so they don't care.They can leave your rental without giving notice because Section 8 will grant them a voucher for a new place for the next month regardless whether they gave notice or not.I would think long and hard before embarking on this.
