From my experience (I'm using an attorney to form an LLC currently) you need a physical address for the state It's in, so I'd go with California.This isn't legal advice, and j could be wrong.

Probably being overly paranoid, but since FL requires the use of a physical street address not a PO Box, I'm wondering if using my personal residence as the primary business address would create a legal avenue to access my home in the event the LLC's assets are attacked.I know some folks use a registered agent service, but wondering if that expense ($150-$250 per year) is necessary.

You may want to have the tenant pay this, or realize that this is an additional expense for yourself.Once a house goes rental, the physical condition usually depreciates faster than an owner occupant.
