Therefore, this is before your C end buyer even gets involved with you, the B investor.To answer your second question, you have to sign a contract with A seller and control the transaction so that C buyer cannot "steal" the property.

The only real estate background is that my parents own single family homes and some commercial rental properties and that is where my interests primarily fall because that is what I have primarily been around.

THU NGUYEN my personal opinion is, first you have more control how to invest and being engaged at war zone level and second with buy and hold strategy you will build equity and build wealth overtime (long term if you hold your property).
