I'm from Michigan, been in MD for 2 years, and moving back to MI next month.

You will tire of having strangers live in your house or you will eventually move.  

That's part of why I love the idea of being a relationship-forward investor & landlord. 

Anyway, we are thinking about renting the house that we live in right now for a year and moving into another house that we will house-hack, probably upgrade it with an intention of renting it in the future, and probably come back to the house that we live in right now. 

I'm looking into getting a DSCR loan as I'm looking to move out of state in the near future but still purchase properties here remotely.

Now that I've got the ball rolling, I want to move into a 2nd market here soon. 

Investors and operators should monitor employment trends and household formation as key demand drivers going forward.

Can a VA LOAN be moved under an LLC or how would you go about getting your assets protected another way?

Best, Justin  Hi Justin - as you've noted - DSCR Loans are typically the best bet for this (Mid Term Rentals) and typically are for these newer/innovative strategies as DSCR Loans are typically done by private lenders that can move and adapt fast (versus slower moving lenders that must follow GSE guidance or banks that are under a lot of regulation and bureaucracy)Check out this article published at the end of last year here on BP that talked about "whats coming next for DSCR Loans in 2024" - Medium Term Rental financing solutions was one of the main topics!
