I have basic experience like framming some walls, hanging sheetrock, painting.

I tend to hang with people older than me now, just becaue of the mindset difference.

The other posters have listed great standard strategy, but if you are working someplace like Qatar I would advise finding a ridiculously cheap place to hang out during your down time that isn't in the States. 

Those numbers may change my answer but I THINK I say go for it...4 unit (largest you can get that still gets a conforming mortgage, get a 30-year loan, live in one of the units, get the hang of it and repeat a few more times. 

But, to me there are always better deals out there - that don't have this risk hanging over my head.

Now that I'm looking at purchasing properties, I'm wondering if I should find a broker to hang my license with, get trained on how to do the paperwork, in exchange for a small flat fee, as I will be doing most/all of the legwork.Also do most brokers require their agents to be part of a realtor's association?

What degenerate circle of people have you been hanging around that gave you that warped perception of the American way of life?

I'm no lawyer - so take what I say with a grain of salt - but if that one line in the lease is all they are hanging their case on, it seems weak. 

Just not sure if I should hang on to it or just sell and purchase something else.

@Tony Castronovo, that's what I'm seeing as well, won't say that there are no deals out there, but it's a competitive market going for that low hanging fruit.
