These are awesome and inspiring posts.

Materially they have tons of cheap Chinese crap but I would argue older generations have failed to inspire them, install grit, and pass down values that give life meaning. 

I know this isn't formal education, but one of my favorite sites to get inspired with big ideas or learn more about a particular subject is TED at http://www.ted.com/.

All the “horror” stories are more inspiration than anything.

I been looking into either property abroad, homesteading/self sustainable home for myself, building a community living with a self sustainability situation with others, buying property abroad with a group of people I decide I trust enough to do so with (my inspiration for this last one: https://tynan.com/empire/), just go back to my original idea to house hack first, or a combination of the above.
