A GC is sometimes grossly misused, some have their own crew who perform more than 1 trade, some are simply paperwork contractors where they put together all the subs and manage, and some are their own GC where they have truck and tools plus a helper, those are the 3 types.

Not to mention the fact that there are a lot of businesses jumping just over the border there from illinois to avoid all the crazy taxes here in addition to the knucklehead workman's comp rates as well.Try asking trucking companies or roofing companies or ...... whether its cheaper to operate over there in indiana than over here in illinois.
