You may need to come out of pocket from time to time when things get tight so it isn't gonna provide you with the cash flow to retire anytime soon but it will likely over time provide you with equity that you can cash out, tax free, to buy additional properties or live off of in the future.Even if you do not want to keep the condo long-term, put a tenant in there for the next year and then spend that year researching deals closer to your new home and in a year, you could be in a position to do a 1031 exchange into a new property closer to home that has the investment parameters that you want.

If after 6 months the property appraises for ~$165K as estimated, I could get a loan of ~$123K - ~$93K ($98K- $5K reinstatement) owed to retire original loan, leaving ~$30K cash out which is essentially getting cash invested back and still holding the asset.

Now, let's see if we can figure out your next steps.You could just sell them off for a little profit as others have suggested.Another option to consider might be finding private lenders who could help you bring these to closing (sale).Start by listening to family, friends, neighbors and others and listen when they complain about their 401(k), IRA, etc. and not getting the returns they would like or that their accounts are at risk on Wall Street.At the same time, learn about self-directed retirement accounts so you can teach those other people how put their money in a position where they can have greater control and get greater returns with less volatility.Then, learn how to introduce people you know to self-direction.
