I wouldn't bet on any helpful changes in the near future.Oregon passed these ADU laws a long time ago. and you see basements converted and some new builds ( we have done it) but its not affordable housing.. its housing for those that can afford 1500 to 2500 a month for a one bed room in a great neighborhoods.

Currently, we are just renting out the apartment to young single people or young married couples  when we move out we will definitely look into renting out by bedroom as you can make more that way.

We typically turn garages into additional bedrooms if the house itself is too small The house needs to be on a really nice piece of land (nestled in the woods, on a golf course, on the water, ect).
