You can make money until a bad tenant or disgruntled neighbour reports you to your building department or there is a fire and someone gets injured, killed or you try to make an insurance claim.

If you're concerned about zoning, definitely check with the zoning department regarding what that piece of land is zoned for.

Sounds like this would be though the business loan department rather than the mortgage department.

Hi @Torrance Jones,I would encourage you to contact the inspection department and request for a copy of the checklist that the inspector will use for inspection day.

Where I am permits are not posted on the auditors website even though there is a link for the info - you can try calling the local city building department and ask them for any previous permit info.

@Mark Reit, call the building department and ask which version of the International Building Code (IBC) they use.

The town zoning department should have the answers to that.
