@Marcele Johnson - In Chicago we have a strict ordinance in regards to SD's - a lot of landlords don't want to risk it and take move in fees like @Carmichael Lewis mentioned, but the move in fee cannot be more than half of rent otherwise the courts treat it as a SD and you will get fined for not following the rules of taking a SD.

@Lynnette E. you could go to the County website where the case was adjudicated and often you can look at the court records and see what the charges were and what the outcome was.
