I agree that a consumption tax sounds ideal, but in reality people would just make large purchases overseas that are "duty-free" and effectively tax free all together.I think what we REALLY need is to start a blank slate in our budget.

That's primarily because the means in which we consume information (and entertainment) is being transformed before our eyes.More people are using computers and gaming (XBox, PS3) for television consumption and it is, as Jon pointed out, impacting revenue.

Much healthier, lower sugar, less fat, whole grain, include flax seed, walnuts, fruit, good healthy stuff.Today I cooked a couple of pounds of black beans ad a batch of boiled barley, and they got frozen in 1/2 C servings.
