Looking to see if an experienced investor can give some insight on how they started out and if it propelled them forward at a faster rate than others.

That's what I did to start out and it really propels you into the real estate game and is a great learning experience before moving onto other properties.

@Engelo Rumorasince I will NEVER buy a turnkey property, I will leave that out of the equation and look at the comment "why you shouldn't leverage when investing"- First - as you understand, Leverage is widely understood in the REI community as a HUGE benefit that (along with many other benefits that have also been mentioned) propels real estate above many other investing options.
