Focus on high-demand rental areas (suburbs for multifamily, tourist/business hubs for STRs) and consider scaling with the BRRRR method to build passive income.

Funny enough, I was going to suggest you move out of SF due to the high cost ;-) I'd suggest going down the SF condo route to start as financing for commercial units is a lot more difficult than residential properties.

If you're househacking and are a qualifying veteran, these are typically better loan options than conventional/fha in low-downpayment, high DTI, or low credit scenarios.

They look solid and well built, it's the high crime rates and the developing area thats my worry.
