I don't believe we saw a permanent change in the housing market in typical STR locations, maybe a little inflation but these places got overpriced quick - the demand rose due to low interest rates and money injected into the economy by the Fed and supply simply couldn't keep up.

Maybe you can inject some money into the property to make it as livable as possible and turn around and flip it. 

After housing prices went up, I was able to refi at 20% to remove PMI without injecting any additional funds.

And those windows aren't entry level windows - they are the more "advanced" windows with radon gas injected, etc. 

It could go on depending on your point view, and i'm someone will inject accounting principals...

For fentanyl contamination; understand that the folks who are overdosing on fentanyl (which is very powerful, as you mentioned) are generally injecting it directly into a vein.

You are buying to inject capital into the property to hopefully increase rents and therefore value.

You've injected capital to improve and repair the building and want to bring rents to market levels to make a return on your investment.
