I like the Rare Earth play.. that sounds like its going to be a major bonanza for work force housing.

@Samuel Metcalf- sounds like you have a FHA loan as  PMI is permanent in most FHA loans ....I would ask  the bank that holds the loan for  refinance  options and then shop around to see if there are  any refinance options that  make sense ...if not - live with the loan you have  but be  ready to refinance  when rates drop 

Many believe this is a cost saving mecanism but in many cases it will cost as much if not more and will not be as sound of a legal instrument.

OP, this sounds a little unusual. 

Having an open-ended interview process with no set criteria sounds like an easy way for an attorney to argue for discrimination, whether or not any actually occurred.
