Then add "real estate assessment" and/or "real estate tax" to your google search term (the county name) and this should point you to a website where you can look up property taxes and the assessment records for all properties in the county.

My input would be that we estimate that land on residential property is generally around 20% of the total property value as a rule of thumb.Here in TX, our local county appraisal districts break out land versus improvement values in the appraised values that they use to assess property taxes.

I thought it would be difficult, but with my background in construction, assessing the repairs needed to the property and the price I needed to secure the contract for was easier than I thought.

If you live in the property then you get to homestead which reduces an amount from the assessed value, thereby, reducing your tax payment.

Financial assistance to friends and family is a-whole-nother ballgame that I do not recommend mingling.At this point, the comments seem to assess that the house needs to be short-saled.
