If you were to pay yourself a fee for the management services, then it would be a prohibited transaction and disqualify the IRA causing the taxes and 10% penalty (pre- age 59.5) I am very knowledgable on this topic (however, I am not a CPA or Tax Attorney) and even teach investors the ins and outs and how to's.
