I ended up investing in Fort Worth because the returns were better and the tax valuations were lower (which will kill you in TX).

Short term rentals of less than 30 days are prohibited in the City of St Petersburg.Before you throw in the towel, the city doesn’t really enforce it - so that’s the current situation.If you don’t want to roll the dice consider a city that does allow it and has clear rules about STRs - like Savannah or Fort Lauderdale.
