The place needs some repairs that I can see from the outside.

According to HUD they did not find any health risk outside of some head aches, throat irritation and the like.The best way to do a preliminary check is to pull  out an outlet and look at the ground wire.  

It also doesn't help that like you had said the thought process of having stay in keep the SECURITY of having a paycheck and what do you like you do on the outside i was only in for 4 years and they tried really hard to make me give up on getting out and settle for what i already had. 

Right outside of that courtroom is a long list of the eviction cases on the docket for the day. 

It is really attractive to retired professionals from California, New York, RDU, CLT & ATL.Working people live outside the city of Asheville

About two years ago the wife and I were cooking outside on the grill when I noticed the house behind mine, well across my back yard had a bunch of crap in the yard and it looked vacant.

Other landlord issues are the caulk for the windows and pressure washing the outside. 

Now I am not advocating for you to buy this properties...I am just pointing out that price is not the reason anyone should look outside their own market.
