Unlike many on BP who talk about getting into REI, Chris has actually done it.And so while the content of some of these replies may be accurate, the tone of the replies in my opinion leaves something to be desired.While telling the truth is important -  being real is important - I think those of us with more experience and greater wealth have a responsibility to help others who demonstrate the effort and commitment to succeed.For all of us who have created financial security and freedom thru REI, we were “green” at one point and were helped along the way by others.

Props to you for finding a cheaper option than more unpaid rent and eviction proceedings in an environment where it is more and more difficult to remove non-payers.Of course it is not fair to need to do cash for keys.
