We were thinking of trying to own a STR property, but again given the difficulty in meeting requirements, it doesn't seem likely to be beneficial at all. 

That seems to be the playbook many are paying thousands of dollars in education fees for.

Sorry for what may seem like very basic questions but my wife and I are truly “green” to the rental world.   

Springfield seems to keep popping up on booming market lists so I figured it was time I hop on here and try to connect with more folks.

But I like idea that Detroit, gaining it's momentum of renaissance and appreciation could be better there, but maybe I idolize it.Columbus seems lucrative with tech companies investing there, but a bit fishy, because so many flippers already there, so many people realtors/flippers tryin to sell their flipped houses. 

That seems outrageous to me.  

It may seem like a big jump, but show them that you are still below market rents.
