If your state of residence is NY, then any income earned by the LLC will be taxed by the state where the income is earned (MI), by the state where the LLC is organized (CT), and by the state where you live (NY).

There's an organization called the Triangle Apartment Association (I am in no way affiliated with them) that I stumbled upon a few weeks back.

The inspection may allow you to spot major issues (like a hole in a tank), but functional testing can likely only occur when folks are living in the house.
