I think my PM co does credit checks, references, criminal background, and work history.I googled "how to screen potential renters" and found on line services and interesting information.

When you run a credit check and criminal background check, what is acceptable?

It won't go well unless you are this type of LL and accustomed to dealing with druggies and criminals.

I'm wondering what services you all use to screen tenants in Seattle, in order to conform with the "second chance" law preventing criminal background checks (or even asking questions about criminal history). 

Once the Craiglist listing is hijacked, think of the less informed individuals that will be duped to pay a deposit for a discounted property by depositing funds into the criminals account or sending the money to some random address.

@Joe Gore They provide full credit report, credit score, and national criminal background check and a conlcusion with applicant recommendations.

If protocols were not followed outlined by the government for safe lending practices that caused the bank to go under the officers can face criminal prosecution.

Also would like to know if they have criminal history. 

@Nick Wight I would make sure to get 3 bids, check out their current/past projects in person, and do all the other due diligence necessary before hiring anyone (criminal/civil record, insurance, etc.).

I have rented before and used screening service called TVS, Tenant Verification Service to pull credit, rental and criminal reports.I have not pulled a report in a while and they have apparently changed the way they operate, in that the renter now pulls their own reports and supplies them to me.
