Both website are a great resources for finding information on properties.  

My recommendation is to read everything you can on REI and see what resonates w/you based on your temperament, time, resources, and think about what can I get really good at quickly.  

BiggerPockets is an amazing resource and I'm truly thankful for everything you guys do.

I joined this community because I would google questions and all of the answers would come from this site.

They will want to see what lenders will want to see to qualify the buyer; personal financial statements, credit reports, relevant experience, banking relationships, etc.  

And the Professional Investors Guild is a great resource for learning about wholesaling and rehabbing, and of course networking. 

If you search the site with the term 401k you should come up with a very recent thread full of fantastic information.

I'm finding that the crowdfunding sites aren't a good fit.

Since you say you & your husband are just getting started you will find this site to have a ton of material you can gain knowledge from in many different formats like webinars, podcasts, blogs, forums, articles, and books.
