And this is not a particularly unusual story.Sure, there are good managers out there, but if you look at what is "standard" in the industry, and what they consider "standard" to have in their contracts, I think it's just .... wrong.

If so, having been in their shoes, it is not trivial to open a bank account until you get a SS#, etc which takes a few weeks or months after arriving.In some countries it is not unusual to pay at least a few months upfront.

They then started receiving notice of (IMO) unusual feedback - that the security deposit would not be refunded in full because there was dust on top of the washer - stuff that just doesn't sound legit.

If you are interested in doing any development, especially anything unusual like tiny houses or pocket neighborhoods that typically require re-zoning or special use permits, neighbors can get very alarmed and protest those changes to the zoning board.

This is quite unusual in that, if I wanted to check on my property I text my tenant and get a response back within a day confirming when I might be able to do it!
