Just dive in and learn everything you can. l live in Plano.

And don't overlook more developed cities like Plano as rental demand is huge there, too.

As I've been learning more and more about the Dallas real estate market, I'm seeing that what I initially wanted (which was a duplex/triplex) is not widely popular in my target areas (Addison, Carrollton, Lewisville, Plano, McKinney, Little Elm, the Colony, Allen, Frisco, essentially the far North Dallas area).

Dallas County (Dallas) and Collin County (Plano) are getting tougher, but some opportunities in the East.

Also, the only duplex I could find online (Plano) was being sold specifically as a "half-duplex"- meaning you could only own and control half of a property. 

BTW, I am in Plano, too.
