Well tying it into a metal box MIGHT work, but if the box is mounted in wood with no metal touching it, I'm not sure you will pull enough of a ground current availability to make it light up as grounded.

My tenants fixed several mounts in the walls and when they removed them it has ~12 holes for the screws.Even though the paint is >3 years old, I can take $$$ from their deposit correct?
