If so, whenever the landlord has to use a physical address, how will the address be listed if tenant is on 1st floor and the basement isn't an apartment?

Someone getting shot two weeks ago right down the street brings up some real concern for me along with the D rating you gave the neighborhood.

It appears to be in good shape, but my concern is will this be a maintenance issue/concern later down the road? 

Their responses mainly concern real estate fraud and they pull out of the deal.

@Alyssa SteinruckYou may have some contractors come and see how long it would take to repair the damages, or how long to repair the safety issues and get a better idea of what it will take to fix.If its something they can do in a week or two, you may just offer to put them up in a hotel until the major safety issues are addressed.  

Don't be afraid to have a talk with him about your concerns/expectations.

I often find the Cities to be pretty helpful and knowledgeable regarding what is possible.This is on my bucket list as far as the zoning variance process is concerned. 

Just concerned with the aftermath if I file a legal suit against them.
