After interviewing hundreds of successful real estate investors, I believe the biggest, most important step you can take early on is to define your why.

Talk to some local brokerages or teams, see who you want to go with and who's got great training, the more you interview the better you are. 

The interviewer is awful, but Spencer is informative.

I'm on Airbnb #5, have interviewed over 20 lenders, and am fighting to get a REFINANCE (80% LTV rate and term, no cash out) loan for one of my properties (which has a balloon in June).

I am now interviewing new candidates for the position.

I would set up interviews with several brokers in your area and see what matches up with your goals. 

Perhaps you could select multiple candidates and interview them, then ask for and call their references to help you feel more confident about your decision.

@Sammi Liu i think your key here is visiting a few PMs and interviewing them thoroughly.

Why are you interviewing realtors?  

With all that being said, if you do wish to be investment property owners, I would carefully interview prospective property managers as I imagine that you're not looking to take on the responsibility of day-to-day property management considering your existing commitments to your business.
