I was working northward closer where I live in North Dallas, but there are very slim deals north of Dallas.  

I would recommend the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

We fell into being landlords when we moved out of our residential property in Dallas a couple of years back.  

This wasn't the case in many markets including Dallas and Austin, where there wasn't a supper high run up in prices, but instead continuous steady growth.  

I am a new investor in the Dallas/Kaufman County area. 

After moving to Dallas, I thought I would give investing locally a try to augment my note business.

Hi Noel:@Mindy Jensen is bang on.I spent over $130,000 to put together an "Offering Memorandum" to legally raise registered retired funds in Canada with the idea of buying apartment buildings in Dallas.

Dallas is divided about 50/50 and Memphis is more 75% w/o appliances and 25% with. 

And the gurus routinely come here to Dallas and put up slides showing $40K wholesale deals.  

Dallas area properties run the gamut.
