That led many financial planners to reconsider the QPRT for California residents looking to both preserve their equity and avoid crippling estate taxes.There are ways to mitigate around paying multiple California Franchise taxes & still have both flexibility and protection - but nothing will save you from getting around the California FTB "doing business in" California definitions which are incredibly broad and vague so that paying the minimum $800 per year per LLC is inevitable. 

Have you tried reaching out to a low altitudes commercial leasing agent to ask what their experience has been or called a city planner ?

A great place to start is https://www.biggerpockets.com/forums/521-events-and-happenings which you can use to find like-minded people in your area.Besides figuring out what your goals are, how you want to get started, and meeting like-minded people, the first action item would be to talk to a lender.

One time at one of his events they recommended attending a local church and finding people through the church community, which I thought was a great idea.
