Considering where I am in my life (early 30's, wife, child and house), this is the strategy that I have chosen to follow in my adventures in REI.

You will not have to conduct lead abatement until the unit is occupied by a tenant with a child under 6 years old. 

So for example if your child's doctor visit is $175 you are responsible for that.

If you are in a coastal area....or places like GA....you need to have it.Owners child has had numerous allergic reactions inside the home.....at least now they know the source.
