Aloha,We will only reluctantly provide an owner keys, and we rekey at nearly every turnover (with only one key needed per unit, no matter how many locks, unless the owner accepts liability for not rekeying by initialing the option on management agreement).

I do like that August works with existing deadbolts (mostly) so you don't need to rekey and doesn't appear to be a smart lock from the outside.I am about to install either a Resortlock or a Schlage 916.

If a major issue call a locksmith.

I would have your trash-out guy and locksmith on standby at this point, so when you get the call, they're ready to rock. 

Rekeying one lock means rekeying all to match, otherwise you end up in Key purgatory.Secondly, your Rental Application should have a notice regarding "rented as shown, no additional cleaning or cosmetic improvements without prior written approval".

With buyers, we also have a locksmith key all the locks to the same key, and make them as many keys as they want.

We often times have to hire/pay a locksmith since the sellers don't even have keys to these houses, etc. 

Now we are having a very hard time getting the property managers to do anything (months to rekey and bid for repairs).
