To my knowledge family members are not allowed to be the landlords of a Sec 8 unit unless the Sec 8 tenant meets certain requirements and if I remember those requirements are about being disabled or needing a certain type of care.

Please learn from my main mistake......I gave people to much benefit of the doubt, trusted people at their word, and did not trust the warning signs slapping me in the face at times. 8 years later, I still have not fully recovered financially, and I struggle to take care of my now disabled wife.

Unit 2 - 3/2 with older disabled lady, 20 something daughter lives with her. small lap dog as well. shes paying 889 a month. resident for 12 years. pays on time. nice and unit is well kept and clean. daughter and dog not on lease. month to month lease. fixed income. uses a walker. mentally sharp. havent seen credit or BG yet.Rental Comps are 1200 to 1400 a month. both units are well under market rents.
