But talking to the tenant face to face, giving her the benefit of the doubt, and expressing your sincere desire to appropriately deal with any problem will go a lot further than starting with an adversarial stance.

In fact, I have a property that has a similar door on the back of the house and, even though the tenant didn't have an issue with it when they first rented the house, they did later express concern about the safety/security of the door due to the large glass panel and the ease with which it could be broken into.

The tenant had taped over the unit to prevent mold exposure to herself and baby, and expressed her concern to the handyman to please use extreme caution when removing the unit, she even gave him garbage bags to bag it, because didn't want mold in the air.
